Recent buys

Bonjourno!

I suppose I should probably start vlogging instead of writing my hauls, but I really don't have the time to sit and film uninterrupted. It's probably the same as me writing about everything I've bought...

Okay, so me and my dear friend Izzy, who's down from Surrey for the week, went to merry Boots. The Boots in Harleston is tiny. Literally, tiny.
Anyway...

I have always said, every time I've been into Boots, that I need to buy some dry shampoo. I never ever do. BUT! This time.. I have!
I bought the generic Batiste dry shampoo, in Original. I've only used it twice since I bought it, but I can already tell that I really like it. It literally does as it says on the tin; it makes your hair smell lovely, it absorbs all of the oil, and gives a perfect amount of body. There is nothing worse than greasy hair, sticking to your head. It looks vile.
There's not really too much to say about dry shampoo, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
I think this was around £3 for 200ml.

I also bought a Rimmel eyebrow pencil in Dark Brown (001). I'm not entirely sure why I bought it. Izzy was buying one, because her face cream bleaches her eyebrows (hilarious!), so I thought I may as well give it a go. I'm really liking it, actually. Obviously I'm not, like, scrawling my eyebrows on, I just follow the natural shape of my eyebrows and enhance them slightly. The pencil is an amazing consistency, it's literally perfect: it's not so dry that it drags on your brows, but it also doesn't clump your hairs together. It just really compliments the shape of my brows and I'm so glad I bought it!
I think this was £6 or £7 for 1.4g.

Finally, I bought a Rimmel lipstick, from Kate Moss's new collection. I bought a dusky pink called Rossetto (03), and I really like it. It's very almost nude, but it has a slight twist of pink through it, with orange undertones. It's really pigmented and sits on your lips really well. The formula of high street/drug store lipsticks tends to be a little bit... Not perfect. But this is seriously good. It doesn't cake on your lips, it's really subtle and has the finest shimmer to it.
I think this was £4 or £5 for 4g.

I got all of these products from Boots, so I won't bother linking them, if you're interested you can probably access a Boots or drug store quite easily.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it.

Coral and orange lovin'

Bonjour, mes amis!
I am currently in love with anything coral or orange, but I'm most liking lipsticks and nail varnishes.

I've recently bought a few things that are completely gorgeous, so this is probably going to be an orange/coral-orientated haul.

Okay, so firstly, I bought two L'Oreal nail varnishes and, surprise surprise, I bought orange and coral. They are from the Colour Riche collection, and come in 5ml bottles. They're pretty much the same formula, it's just the colour that's different. I got them in Lush Tangerine (303) and Dating Coral (305). I actually bought them a while ago, probably in February or March, but they're so gorgeous and bright!
However, you do need a good 3 coats to get a full coverage. Two coats would probably be enough for short nails with no natural tips, but to ensure that your nail is all one colour, if you have longer nails, you'll need a few more than usual. I think they were around £4-5 each, I can't quite remember, but I remember being very willing to pay however much they cost.

My mum bought me 6 Urban Decay nail varnishes, but my favourite colours are the orange and coral. They're from the Summer Of Love collection, which is actually a gorgeous selection of colours, I love them all. I have no idea how much these were because my mum bought them for me, but I think she got them from House Of Fraser, or a department store like that. Again, they're in 5ml bottles, which isn't very big, but I do have a rather large collection of nail varnishes, so they don't get used too often. The orange is in Magic Bus and the coral is in Psychedelic Sister. I love random names for nails varnishes, it just makes them so much more interesting!
The orange is a very deep, rich colour, you only need two coats for full coverage, and the coral is also very rich, but you need about 3 coats, just to give that little umph.
If you don't really care about labels and designers for your nail varnishes, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives to Urban Decay, but I do find them much better quality than cheaper brands.

Last nail varnish. I bought a Rimmel London coral nail varnish, from the 60 second collection. I don't own any other Rimmel nail varnises, so I'm quite excited about this one. I bought it in Instyle Coral (415), and it's a really subtle, pastelly type colour. It's much more spring-like and girly than the others. I wouldn't say I'm completely in love with the formula, it's a little bit on the liquidy side, which makes it difficult to achieve an even coverage, but it's a gorgeous colour. You need about 3 coats, for full coverage. It comes in an 8ml bottle, and I think it was priced at about £5.

Right, on to lipsticks. I can't remember if I've already featured this lipstick on here already, but I'm completely in love with it so I'll do it again. It's a Bourjois lipstick from the Sweet Shine Kiss collection. I bought it in Juicy Tangerine (74), but it's definitely more pinky-red than orange. I think it was around the £8 mark, but I can't remember.
It's such a lovely colour, and a super creamy formula. However, because it's so creamy, it doesn't last very long. But I'd be happy to pay another £8 for another one because I'm totally in love with it. I suppose it does have orangey undertones, but it's mainly corally-pink. It makes your lips feel really nourished and cared for, whether it actually nourishes and cares for your lips is another matter...
It's also really bold and bright, so it's perfect for those days where you don't look perfect but you don't have time to do your make up. You can just swipe a bit on and it instantly draws the eye to your lips, and away from your problem areas.

Finally, I bought a Rimmel London lipstick, from the Lasting Finish collection, in Coral In Gold (210). It was about £4, which I think is excellent value. It's more orange than coral, I'd say, but it's still gorgeous. I've never tried an orange lipstick before, I've always been a red/pink girl, but I think the tides are turning.
It's not too creamy, so I think it's going to last a while, which is a gooood thing! It has a bit of shimmer in it, so it really draws attention to your lips and reflects the light really well.

I bought all of these products, apart from the Urban Decay nail varnishes, from Boots, so you can definitely find them pretty much everywhere. I couldn't find links to each product, but I hope my description is enough to be going on with.

Let me know if you've tried any of these products, I'd love to know your opinions on them too!

Hope you've enjoyed! Thank you for reading.

Current beauty favourites

Bonjourno, my dears!
So, I was thinking earlier about how I wanted to write another blog post, but I had no idea what to do it on. I know everyone says it's better to let it come naturally but, oh well!

I wouldn't say I'm a completely beautified person, but I like to take care of myself and I've recently found a few excellent products that I'd like to share with you all.
These products aren't by any means new, or whatever, they're just what works for me.

Okay, so I have a really tough time trying to find a concealer that really works. I don't get enough sleep most nights, and therefore, end up paying the price in the morning, when I have really bad dark circles. It seems like I've been searching my whole life, trying to find the perfect concealer, and this one is definitely the best one yet. It's by Collection 2000, and is called Illuminating Touch. I think it was around the £7 - 8 mark, which I was quite happy to pay. I bought it in Glow, 3, which is perfect for my skin tone (without a tan), I'd say I'm middle... But verging on more pale than tanned.
I am so in love with this concealer. I'd say it gives medium to full coverage, which is definitely handy when it comes to eliminating those pesky dark circles! But also, it really brightens the under-eye area. It makes your eyes look sparkly and draws everyone's focus right there. The formula is quite... Runny, so if you're looking for something a bit more easy to apply, I wouldn't bother with this product, however, if you suffer from dark circles, I'd definitely recommend this concealer!

Next up is my daily mascara. I've been using this mascara every day for about 3 months. It's Bourjois' Ultra Curl. It only comes in black, which is fine for me because I don't tend to wear any other colours on my lashes. This mascara is gorgeous, I'd totally recommend to everyone. The brush has a really dramatic curve to it, which really helps to capture those annoying little lashes that refuse to get mascarafied. It's also really versatile; you can use it throughout the day as a normal, every day mascara that just gives you a little boost, or you can add on a few more thick layers to make it really dramatic and glamourous, if you're going out in the evening. I'm pretty sure it's £7.99, which is excellent, and it lasts ages.

Last on the make up list is Natural Collection's bronzing pearls. I have them in Tropical Tan, and all I can say is that they give you the most amazing glow. When you apply it, it doesn't look like you've dipped your face in a jar of marmite, the product doesn't even claim to do that. Everyone thinks it's all about having that perfect tan, and these bronzing pearls do that effortlessly. You could literally just buff on a little bit of that, some mascara, and you'd be good to go. They're also fragrance free, so people with sensitive skin are able to appreciate their glow aswell! I have a feeling that they cost something ridiculous like £3. That's why I love Natural Collection... So affordbale, and I can't fault them.

Finally, which is more skin care than anything else, is the Pink Grapefruit, Visibly Clear moisturiser, from Neutrogena. I have combination skin, and this moisturiser covers it all. I use it morning and evening and it leaves my skin feeling fresh, but cared for. It doesn't leave loads of residue on your skin, and it soaks in really quickly. I don't know how it performs on it's own, I've only used it with the range of Pink Grapefruit products, but I'm sure it'll work fine with whatever skincare routine you have at the moment. It's £4.99 for a 50ml bottle, and I'd recommend this to anyone with oily/combination skin. It's a keeper!

I haven't listed where I bought these four products, but you can definitely find them in Boots, and there's pretty much a Boots everywhere!
Please bear in mind that these are the products that are working for me currently, and they may not work for you as well as they have for me. Although, the mascara is definitely a winner. Please buy it, it's fantastic!

Hope you enjoyed reading!

Au revoir!

Exam stress

It's year 10 mock exam week at my school, and probably around the country. As a teenager, I understand the kind of pressure other teenagers are put under. Luckily, my parents have always been supportive and never say anything like "Oh, well it's only a mock!" They're being super supportive and I'm sure many other parents around the country are too. However, I'm sure that there are many parents who couldn't care less what their children get in the exams, and I suppose, that in itself is pressure to prove them wrong. To prove to them that you can do well.
Also, I'm sure there are lots of pupils thinking that because the exams are called mocks, they don't matter.
MOCKS MATTER.
Your mock grade is what will be seen by colleges and 6th forms. It's all very well saying that you'll revise for the real exam, but the grade you get in those won't have an effect on whether or not you're accepted at your first choice of college/6th form. The year 11 exams, that are taken in May/June, aren't marked until the summer holidays, so you get your results back in August. August is too late to apply for a course at college...
And, if you revise for the mocks, it makes it a lot easier to revise for the "real" ones later on.
Anyway, back to the topic in hand.
Stress.
Everyone gets stressed before exams, unless you're a cocky whatsit. Even smart people, who don't even need to do revision (but they do anyway), get stressed. Admittedly, some people show it more than others, for example; there's a boy in my year and he was literally in tears just before we went into the exam, whereas there are other.. Ahem.. People who jump around and make loads of noise, acting as if it's just a normal lesson.
Getting stressed about important things like exams is understandable, but you need to know how to calm your nerves, and chill out because, if not, you'll get into the exam hall, take your seat... And freak out.
I'm going to share with you gorgeous people my top tips for keeping cool.

1. Make sure you revise. That way you know you're prepared and, chances are, anything that comes up in the exam you'll have covered at least twice.

2. DO NOT cram the night before. If you try and revise all night before an exam, you'll stress yourself out even more. You'll be trying to go to sleep but your mind will still be working away at those simultaneous equations.

3. Try and relax the night before. Don't think about the exam you have in the morning, just chill out and get a good nights sleep. Being well rested is just as important as revising. If you go into the exam tired and headachey, your mood will be reflected in your grade.

4. Make sure you eat breakfast on the morning of an exam. Some exams run through lunch, so if you're hungry you're not going to be able to concentrate on what the definition of hyperbole is, you're just going to be thinking about what you're going to have for lunch.

5. Take water into the exam with you. Research has been done to investigate the benefits of drinking water in an exam. Results show that your brain will work better when hydrated.

And that's it my lovelies! Not very much to remember, really.

Please note that this is only what works for me, I'm not an exam therapist, I've just decided to share my wisdom.

I hope this has helped!

Written haul

Okay, so I was going to film a haul this evening but there's nowhere with good enough lighting in my house, so I've decided to write the haul instead. It'll probably work fine.
I went to Norwich (my favourite city) with my boyfriend, although he sees it as being dragged around endless shops by an alien that's replaced his girlfriend.
Anyway, we made our way to new look, as per usual, and I saw a beautiful maxi dress. I'd actually had my eye on it for a while after my friend had pointed it out and tried it on a while ago. I'd secretly loved it, but I didn't want to get it at the time because my friend may have bought it, and I'd hate her to think that I'm copying her. But she didn't buy it, so it's all good! As afore menioned, it's a maxi dress, strapless, with two slits up the sides. The slits reach my knees, which is a nice alternative to the normal maxi dresses, so they're not too revealing and give quite a sophisticated edge. It is quite a tight fit around the bust area, I'm a size 8, but I have size 32E breasticles. Also, it reaches the floor when I wear it, I'm 5'4" so I'm guessing the model on the website is taller than little old me...

So, still in new look, which was clearly the shop of choice...
I saw some gorgeous aztec print earrings from, literally, across the shop. They stood out to me straight away. They're super super cute and are so on trend currently. My boyfriend, being the saint that he is, bought them for me.. How sweet! I wore them to work yesterday (Sunday 13th) and I got so many comments about my earrings, just people asking where I bought them and saying how nice they were. They're also really affordable and I can tell I'm going to get loads of use out of them this summer!

Finally I made my way to topshop. I'm totally in love with topshop. If only everything in there was priced like new look...
By the time I'd split the bill for lunch and paid for the dress and earrings, I didn't have very much money left. BUT! I'd forgotten that my little brother had bought me a topshop gift card for Christmas, the little sweetheart! So, I found my second pair of earrings of the day, after spending quite a long time pointing things out to my boyfriend that I liked...
They're really simple and plain, but they're also so... Chic! They're possibly my favourite pair of earrings now. They are so on trend that I want to cry. All I need with these is a festival and some denim shorts and I am good to go!
I'm not usually one for crosses and I often liken crucifix bearers to Ozzy Osbourne (as long as I'm not insulting their religion, of course), but I'm so in love with these.

Well, that's all I bought on my merry trip to Norwich.
I hope you've enjoyed my ramblings and maybe you'll buy something...

Sexism

My history class is currently studying the roles of women and attitudes towards them in the 1900s, and if I didn't know the date I would have thought we were learning about right now. Most of the guys in the class are so ridiculously sexist, it's unbelievable. I don't really understand how people can think so closed-mindedly. The fault can only lie with the parents. From my experience, children that have been brought up in broken families are more likely to be one of the boys in my history class. I don't know whether it's because they want to take out their anger about the break-up/divorce of their parents on someone else, or whether it's because their parents genuinely think like that and, therefore, have passed their thoughts onto their children.
Unfortunately, I have had the misfortune of meeting the father of one of the said boys. He is such a typically disgusting human, and now I understand why his son is such a sexist cretin.
It seems alien to me that people can genuinely think that women are inferior; women can do any job that men can do, and vice versa. Women can be builders, women can be members of Parliament, women can join the Army.
Some of the things these guys say are simply ridiculous; "a woman's place is in the kitchen" "women can't go to work" "women shouldn't be allowed to vote" "women should stay at home and look after children" "women are only here to please men."
I would hate for my children to grow up like that, I would be embarrassed if my children grew up like that. How people can be proud of their children talking like that is completely beyond my inferior female mind.
Women are completely capable of doing all the male orientated jobs, as much as men are of doing female orientated jobs.

School computer rant

The other day, in a music lesson, me and my friend Kira were looking for guitar tabs to a certain song, but every website was blocked. Our ICT teacher is ridiculous, he blocks websites that contain "adult material", but there's a distinct possibility that he's gone mad with his blocking power. He blocked every single main guitar tab website, so therefore, we spent most of the lesson sifting through piles of banned material and not actually learning the song.
I know certain websites are banned because they're completely inappropriate and not suitable for high school children to see, but even so, the occasional swear word in a song is not going to harm us.
Kira and I felt so strongly about our time being wasted that we wrote a letter to Mr Cracknell (ICT teacher), to outline our arguments and feelings. He then saw fit to parade the letter around the staff room, letting everyone and anyone see it. If you write a letter to someone, you expect it to remain confidential. Had he sent me a letter, I would have read it, and replied appropriately, I wouldn't have showed it to all my friends. It's simply childish, and outright betrayal.
Anyway, he kept us behind after the lesson to "discuss" said letter.
He started off being really aggressive and basically telling us that we were wrong, but we completely shot him down. It was hilarious; he had no idea how argumentative we (especially me) are, so once we'd finished saying our piece he started being all "Oh, well, I'm working on a programme... Blah blah blah... Sensible students like you two... Blah blah blah..."

It's so infuriating when teachers think they're better than you just because they're teachers. But, because of their attitudes, it's so rewarding when you disprove their arguments.
Every single website got unblocked.
Basically, argue with your teachers, kids! It might get you somewhere...
